Throughout my career in the bush I have always been asked if I don’t get bored living in the bush and my answer was and is always the same… every day in the bush is different, every sunset is different and yes after living in the bush for the past 17 years I still enjoy every moment !
I also heard many times how people say;” I wished I had your job” or “I would love to work on a farm” and that is why I started the program, to give people the opportunity to experience a part of the life of a Game farmer in Africa
To manage a game farm is a very rewarding lifestyle of course not all the jobs are nice but all of them are necessary and important weather it is fixing a broken water pipe or fence to counting the animals or monitoring the breeding program of rare species like Nyala and Sable antelope.
I am a passionate conservationist and with a love for bird watching, I combine the two in taking part in a country wide survey program called the South African Bird Atlas Program (version2). This data is capture on mobile devices through an app called Birdlasser. The data is used to map bird species distribution and possible rare or out of range sightings. The importance of doing this work on Zangarna is to help with the conservation status of the Waterberg and keeping it a protected area!
Come and live in the bush for a while and experience it for yourself…
Hope to welcome you here soon!
